PhD position in applied organic chemistry open from 01-12-2017

TITLE: DESIGN AND SYNTHESIS OF POLYMERIZABLE IONIC LIQUIDS FOR HIGH TECH APPLICATIONS

Description:
Due to their outstanding properties such as stability under vacuum and thermal conditions as well as their lubrication properties, ionic liquids are ideally suited for high-end applications in multiple fields. This project focuses on design and synthesis of novel polymerizable ionic liquids for the future use as performance additives for space applications and other high-tech areas.

Required skills:
Candidates should have a Diploma or Master degree in organic chemistry or related fields. Profound experience in synthesis, polymer chemistry, interest in ionic liquid technologies and interdisciplinary skills are mandatory. Outstanding motivation and willingness for teamwork is a key requirement. Candidates should be fluent in English, knowledge in German language is desirable. The position is open from December 2017.

Funding:
The positions are equivalent to a part-time project assistant (25 hours) position (minimum salary is EUR 1.725 pre-tax, 14x per year) for 2.5 years (option for extension to 3 years) funded by the FFG. The PhD position provides a highly interdisciplinary research fields
and includes conference participations, lab rotation and research seminars.
